Come Join The Fun! Community sailing is off and running at Performance Sail and Sport. The Performance Dinghy Club (PDC) was created to help promote dinghy sailing in Brevard County, starting at the very beginning level for those who have never sailed before all the way to the most experienced who want to get more practice in and to improve their dinghy sailing skills. The PDC helps bring the cost of sailing into the average household income as well as inspire some long overdue sailor camaraderie. As a member of The PDC your privileges include: Free use of available rental boats. Discounted sailing classes. Use of facilites.
What can we teach you today? Education The U.S. Sailing Certified Courses have been a great success for the adult classes. Help pass the word about this exciting sport of sailing, and look to the High School Sailing page for more information on the High School Sailing Training. Adult and Youth Sailing Classes Open to the Public The classes offered at Performance Sail and Sport are: Beginner High School Training Course, this 16 hour course is designed for the high school student with no sailing experience whatsoever. It follows the U.S. Sailing Certified Course guidlines but more streamlined with a touch of competition added. Min. class size: 6, Max: 8, fee: $95 + $15 for text book. (Ages 14-18 only). Sign-up Now! The Sailing Refresher Course, this 1 hour course is for those whom haven’t sailed in a long time and want to relearn the basics before renting. This course has no class minimum with two the maximum and advanced booking is required, fee: $70 (boat included). Reservations Taken Weekday Evenings (after 3pm) and Weekends. Adult U.S. Sailing Certified Weekend and Evening Courses, this course is designed in the semi-private format so that you can decide when to sail. You pick the best two 4 hour time slots that suites your busy schedule. This course will go in more depth to the theory of sailing (how a boat sails), basic sailing terminology, personal and boating safety, basic right-of-way rules, as well as the basic sailing skills needed to leave and return to the beach or dock. On the water sailing drills follow a short classroom lecture for a fun and safe sailing adventure. An hour classroom lecture is followed by a 3 hour on-the-water instruction each day. Includes text, log books and certificate. Max. class size 6, Min. 2, fee: $300 / $250 (PDC members). Time slots: Sat - Sun. 9am -1pm, (Call ahead for reservations).
Sign-up Now! Private Lessons, private lessons can be set-up to teach you what you want to learn. Use your own boat or use ours. We can travel to your location. Fee: $70/hr / $50/hr (PDC members) How can we help you? Boat Storage The convenience of "raising sails and go" has really caught on. The boat storage program continues to be a success with only one trailer spot, and no rack spots available. Our future plans include sail storage and advanced boat rigging. "Just call ahead and we'll have your boat rigged and ready to sail when you arrive and at the end of your day we'll rinse and drain your boat for you." Consigned Boat Sale (Hobie 16 and 18's wanted badly) We are having a great success rate in selling your consigned and brokered boats during this season. With many more inquires for boats we didn't have. We also keep a list of people interested in buying, so keep those boats you want to sell coming and we'll help you sell them. "Let's recycle those pre-owned boats." If you're looking for an economical pre-owned boat come and see us or look at our classifieds section. Sail Repairs Our sail repair department is really moving along. As we stock up on tools and materials needed for the spectrum of small tramp and sail repairs our delivery time is being reduced to less than one week and sometimes next day. We can match those hard to get Hobie sail cloth colors for a better looking repair for less. Boat Rentals Our rentals are still moving along better than expected! We are continually trying to make our rates low enough to be accessible to the general public and our "Performance Dinghy Club" membership program drops rental rates to half price, stop in and inquire about our new membership program. We have just taken delivery of five more of those highly sought after Hobie Waves. Some of these Waves will be used as demos which comes with a very attractive price tag. Come on out and try them they're the latest craze. We will be receiving our first 16' Hobie Getaway in March for you all to see and rent. You can really pile the people on this boat. Rental Rates
Looking for someone to sail with? Think of that small boat sailing club. Weekends are a good time to come out and sail with other small boat owners here at Performance Sail. We have almost two dozen boats stored here by active sailors. Weekends can be a flurry of activity here, sometimes barbecues and "bull" sessions break-out at spur of the moment. We also keep an active crew list for those looking for help. With our high school sailing program started we have added even more names to that crew list. The crew list is printed on our community page. You can be added to the list if you like. We aren't just a store! We are a gathering place for those sailing hard cores and hard core "wannabes". This premier sailing site is becoming quite a busy locale for the performance dinghy sailor and those not so performance oriented sailors who just want to enjoy the sailor camaraderie. Come out and join in the fun. Maintenance Program The "Maintenance Program" is finally ready. For our storage customers we will inspect, detail, and tune your boat monthly/quarterly for you. We inspect and tune-up your boat monthly and list any parts or repairs that you may need, or call to discuss custom maintenance plans to fit your needs and budget.
